Hey, I'm Andy, founder of Fret Academy - an academy designed to teach a new era of guitar enthusiasts.

I've played guitar for nearly 24 years, passed my grade 8 electric guitar exam in 2011 and studied Music Composition, Technology and Performance at the University of Hertfordshire. So it's safe to say - I'm a guitar and music nerd.

But through all of that, I learnt and played songs that I didn't like. Unsurprisingly, those were the songs that I didn't perform so well. So I decided that needed to change. The next generation of musicians need to be able to learn, practice and play songs they actually enjoy. And so, Fret Academy was born. To teach guitar lessons in the way that I wanted to learn.

In the past three years (before Covid came along and threw a spanner in the works!) I've taught over two dozen students how to play songs they love. They've challenged me to learn new songs to teach them, and above all, made me fall in love with playing guitar time and time again.

I teach students of all ages - I've got experience teaching children as young as 8, and most recently helped my 60 year-old father-in-law brush up on his guitar skills, after 40+ years of self-teaching. So whatever your needs, Fret Academy is here to help.
