Terms & Conditions

Yes, they're boring. No, they're not very rock n roll... but we need them.

Terms & Conditions for music lessons at Fret Academy. Effective as of 13th June 2021. By undertaking tuition on or after this date, the Student accepts and subscribes to the terms and conditions stated below, unless amendments are agreed to in writing.

1.  Introduction

  • Fret Academy offers one-to-one music and group guitar lessons to adults and children. Students are able to book lessons through social media (Facebook and Instagram), email and phone.

  • Confirmation of a student’s lesson will be made by email.

2.  Student Responsibilities

  • Students must be at least 18 years old to book a lesson for themselves. Students under the age of 18 must be represented by a parent or legal guardian who gives consent for them to receive tuition from Fret Academy.

  • Students must ensure that all of their personal details and contact information are accurate and up-to-date.

  • To confirm a Booking for their Lesson, the Student must make the payment of their “Lesson Fee” at least 1 hour prior to the scheduled Lesson start time.

  • The Lesson will only go ahead once the Lesson Fee has been successfully paid and received.

  • Multiple Lessons can be paid for in advance if the Student wishes, bulk discounts are available and can be negotiated.

  • Students must ensure that they have given enough information to the Tutor, including their correct address, to allow the Lesson to take place. If a Lesson is to take place at the Student’s home, the Student must provide a suitable setting for tuition.

  • If the Student has booked an online lesson, they must ensure adequate internet connection, and that they are able to access Discord. (Here's a helpful video for getting started with Discord: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDVqruRsYtA)

  • If a Lesson Fee is outstanding, this may affect the Student’s possibility of receiving future lessons with Tutor.

  • If a Lesson does not take place because a Student does not attend (whether in person or online, as applicable), the Student will be charged the full Lesson Fee.

  • Nothing in these terms and conditions affects a Student's statutory rights.

3.  Cancellations

  • Cancellations: Students may cancel any Booking, without incurring any charge, by giving more than 48 hours' notice.

  • Bookings cancelled less than 48 hours before a Lesson is due to commence, will incur a charge. In this case, the Student will be charged half of the Lesson Fee.

  • This fee is due immediately after informing the Tutor of the cancellation.

  • Tutor may cancel a Booking at any time prior to a Lesson taking place. The Student will be informed as soon as it is apparent the Lesson cannot take place, via their preferred contact method. In the event of a Lesson Booking being cancelled, the Student will not be charged any Lesson Fee or, if the Student has paid the Lesson Fee, will receive a full refund for that Lesson or an agreement to when this Lesson will be rescheduled.

4.  Tutor Status and Responsibilities

  • All the personal information provided and personal statements on the Website are accurate and in no way misleading. This information will promptly be updated as necessary to maintain its accuracy.

  • Fret Academy confirms that their tutor, Andy Clark, is fully DBS checked (certificate number: 000939501640, issued 15/07/2019) to work with both children and adults.

  • I ensure that I have taken the necessary precautions to provide a safe learning environment for the Student, both in-person and online.

  • Any Student under the age of 18 will not be contacted directly by Tutor and must be represented by a parent or legal guardian. In the unlikely occurrence that contact is to be made, the parent or legal guardian must give written consent.

  • Any Student who fails to comply with these terms and conditions may be immediately barred from receiving any future tuition. Tutor reserves the right to cancel any existing Bookings in such circumstances.

5. Bulk discounts and gifts

  • It is possible to book a block of lessons with Fret Academy. These lessons come with a bulk-offer discount.

  • Block lessons must be booked as soon as possible. They will expire if not booked within six months of the date of purchase.

  • Where a gift certificate has been purchased, these must be booked within six months or by the date shown on your gift certificate.

  • Each gift certificate comes with a unique code. This will act as an authorised signature from Fret Academy - please keep this safe.

6.  Changes to these terms and conditions

  • Fret Academy may change these terms and conditions by posting the revised version on the Website at least 7 days before they become effective.
